A Billion Years uses the geological and natural materials of rock and tree resin as a means to record and archive time and matter on Planet Earth, and-in-so reflect on these core questions: Predictably, soon, the Earth’s natural environment may only be possible to experience in a ‘virtual world’. What sensory experiences, and their meaning in the physical and natural world, will be lost? Eventually, if humans have to leave the Earth for another rocky planet, what organic and living matter can be taken with us?
